SingleSource Property Solutions, a Pittsburgh-based, leading provider of national mortgage services supporting the U.S. housing industry, is celebrating its 25th anniversary. This marks a quarter century of innovation, resilience, and steadfast commitment to excellence.

In 2000, SingleSource Chairman Brian Uffelman, a founding member of iMortgage Services (iMS), envisioned starting a company offering property appraisal and title and settlement services nationwide. In 2004, he saw an opportunity to expand to broker price opinions (BPOs) and real estate owned (REO) services—resulting in the launch of SingleSource, with childhood friends CEO Brian Cullen and President Andre Lacouture.

From 2000 to 2010, SingleSource and iMS were individually recognized multiple times as the fastest growing companies in Pittsburgh by the Pittsburgh Business Times, as well as nationally by Inc. Magazine’s Inc. 500. In 2015, the founders, along with new partner, Ed Austin, COO, merged the companies’ offerings to form a one-stop-solution, and one of the largest privately held vendor management companies in the country.

“I got my first big break in my early twenties working for a startup appraisal management company,” says Uffelman. “The two founders were my mentors, and what I learned was priceless. My goal was to always have my own company, so, after five years I decided it was time. For the next twelve months I worked on a business plan, raised equity, and our team built an operating platform that leveraged the latest technology and streamlined the legacy processes of our competition.

“I have worked with so many great people,” he continues. “On various occasions over the years, I’ve said, ‘On so many fronts, we are just getting started,’ and that still holds true. We continue to innovate and identify new opportunities. I look forward to what the next 25 years have in store for us.” 

What began as a start-up has grown to over 150 employees spread across 15 states, serving hundreds of clients nationwide. SingleSource also partners with tens of thousands of vendors, including real estate appraisers, brokers, contractors, attorneys, and title professionals. The company supports clients of all sizes, from large mortgage lenders and servicers to regional credit unions, mortgage companies, investors, and more.

“As an industry, we promote and preserve the vitality of neighborhoods,” said Cullen. “As a company, we do the same. Our goal is to unlock homeownership and create a culture that encourages diverse ideas.”

From the beginning, SingleSource recognized its greatest investment was in people, and it shows in the numbers. Over 25% of its staff has been with the company for over 10 years. This impressive tenure exists with its clients as well. SingleSource has client relationships dating back to 2002 — an amazing accomplishment considering how much the mortgage landscape has changed over the last 25 years.

“Our industry reputation is a direct result of our record customer retention,” says Lacouture. “It sometimes makes winning a new customer easy after they learn of your long history with several noteworthy clients.”

“I have had the opportunity to work with SingleSource as a client, a vendor partner and now as a member of the team,” says Stacey Bayley, SVP. “Throughout all my roles, two things have remained constant: their deep investment in people and their unwavering commitment to being the best. It’s this environment that ultimately led me to make SingleSource my home.”

Over the years, SingleSource has built a comprehensive leadership development program. Since 2020, more than 65 emerging leaders have completed leadership training equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to lead in an ever-changing industry.

“Our management team is not only innovative and thorough, but genuinely committed to excellence in everything they do,” says Austin. “We’ve created a culture that encourages ideas while also allowing us to challenge each other. This is a testament to our collective efforts, values, and the strong bonds we’ve formed.”

No journey is without obstacles, and SingleSource’s story is no different. The company survived the Great Recession as well as the COVID-19 pandemic. Even in down years, SingleSource has found ways to invest in new product lines and never stops serving its clients.

“Our team’s ability to adapt, innovate, and consistently deliver outstanding results is truly inspiring,” says Austin.

As SingleSource celebrates this milestone, its founders look forward to an even brighter future. The company is actively developing new systems, client interfaces, and AI-assisted processes.
